Who is Mindo Cloudforest?
The Mindo Cloudforest Foundation (MCF), founded in December 2001, is an Ecuadorian organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of bird habitat in the Ecuadorian Andes. We also seek to promote bird tourism as an alternative means of income in rural communities. We are a passionate group of individuals from five countries, comprised of innovators and leaders in Ecuadorian bird conservation and tourism with a combined 120+ years experience in Northwest Ecuador. Executive Director Paul Greenfield illustrated and co-authored the Birds of Ecuador (2001 Ridgely, Greenfield: Cornell University Press ) and the Aves del Ecuador (2006 Fundación Jocotoco).
By legal statute MCF works in 3 main areas of endeavor:

Mindo Cloudforest Foundation works to promote bird habitat conservation and creation in the Ecuadorian Andes, and fostering birding as an alternative in rural communities. Our membership has talents in ornithology, geo-chemistry, physics, American literature, business administration, tourism and the fine arts. A logical mix!

La fundación MCF trabaja para promover la conservación del hábitat de la avifauna ecuatoriana, fomentar el turismo de la naturaleza (el aviturismo especialmente) y la implementación de proyectos de reforestación como aportes a la mitigación del cambio climático, la mayor amenaza para las aves y todos los seres vivos. Nuestro grupo reune a innovadores y líderes en la conservación de las aves ecuatorianas de 5 países con más de 120 años experiencia en el noroccidente del Ecuador. Entre los fundadores, Paul Greenfield ilustró y es co-autor del libro The Birds of Ecuador (2001 Ridgely, Greenfield: Cornell University Press ) y Aves del Ecuador (2007 Fundación Jocotoco).
Nuestra membresía tiene talentos en la ornitología, geo-química, la física, la literatura de las Américas, administración de empresas, turismo y las artes. Una mezcla lógica por seguro.
