Projects
By statute MCF works for habitat conservation of Ecuadorian avifauna, the fostering of ecotourism in northwest Ecuador and the implementation of reforestation projects for climate change mitigation. The items on our project menu will show you just that: our work in favor of the birds, their habitat and birding activities, for us and for the communities where we work.
The great majority of our work has been in northwestern Pichincha province, but we have also given training courses in Imbabura and our CarbonNeg initiative is largest in Imbabura, along the Ibarra – San Lorenzo road.

Por estatuto MCF trabaja para la conservación del hábitat de la avifauna ecuatoriana, el fomento del turismo de la naturaleza en el noroccidente del país y la reforestación de hábitat como aporte a la mitigación del cambio climático. En el menu “Projects” se encontrará precísamente esto: nuestro trabajo a favor de las aves, su hábitat y la actividad turística de observarlas en situ.
La gran mayoría de nuestro trabajo se ha enfocado al noroccidente de la provincia de Pichincha, pero también hemos realizado cursos de entrenamiento de jóvenes en Imbabura y en el 2009 comenzamos un proyecto para la captura de carbono, la iniciativa CarbonNeg, con su polo de trabajo más grande en Imbabura, entre Ibarra y Lita. Este proyecto busca reestablecer hábitats en lo que actualmente es una zona altamente afectada por las actividades antropogénicas, no muy adecuadas a las necesidades de las aves.
